Perfect whether you’re visiting Auckland for just a short period of time, or staying for longer. Once you have explored the city’s main attractions (like the Sky Tower), go down for a stroll on the Viaduct to see why Auckland is nicknamed the ‘city of sails’. For live events check out the Aotea square (where you can often see people practicing tai chi, in contrast to the usual hustle and bustle).
Take a day trip, the 35-minute ferry ride from across the road to Waiheke island. A haven of beautiful vineyards, olive groves and white sandy beaches.
A great place for shopping is Queen Street where you will find a variety of shops to suit all tastes and price ranges. For a more designer feel, go down to Britomart to shops in the likes of Tiffany & Co or Louis Vuitton.
