Casa Barovaldo

During the month I spend in and around Bologna (to learn how to make gelato), I stayed at a total of 4 spots (at varying price points) and Casa Barovaldo was hands down the best accommodation chosen, offering the best value for money. Not only was the space itself cute and full of character with a large expansive garden, but the hosts where exceptionally helpful and generous - always available to help with everything from starting the shower, to giving me laundry pods and showing me how to use the washing machine, and even helping me with ordering a taxi and asking for confirmation on whether it arrived. On one of the days, I received a message from the lady host (Valeria), informing me that the towels I left on the laundry rack outside were swept away by the wind and that she has replaced them with fresh towels. On another, they were trying to help me order a taxi to watch the 2026 World Cup final, and with all taxis canceling the trip last minute, Valeria PERSONALLY drove me at least 20 minutes into the city and dropped me to the venue. I thanked her profusely and she responded by saying "it's nothing", since I'm around her kids age (which I'm not sure she is aware of what a compliment that was, because I saw those kids). Valeria and her husband would also cheekily share local desserts with me, and give me personalized recommendations on where to go out to socialized. As a solo female traveler I genuinely couldn't ask for a better experience. Staying at Casa Barovaldo allowed me to see just enough into a cute Italian family's general vibe, while still offering the preferred level of privacy. Also, it was by-far not the priciest place I stayed. I really do wish I spent my entire "outskirts of the city"-time at Casa Barovaldo. FYI, I would suggest if you're not stationed directly in Bologna city to rent a car, which I did do but would opt out of using for nights out for obvious reasons.

Abbiamo trascorso un soggiorno davvero piacevolissimo. Gli host si sono dimostrati estremamente cordiali, accoglienti e sempre disponibili, facendoci sentire a nostro agio fin dal nostro arrivo. L'appartamento era impeccabile sotto ogni aspetto: pulizia eccellente, ambienti curati e dotazione completa di tutto il necessario per trascorrere una vacanza senza pensieri. Un valore aggiunto è sicuramente lo spazio esterno di pertinenza, immerso in un giardino curatissimo, un angolo perfetto per rilassarsi e godersi momenti di tranquillità. Un'esperienza che consigliamo senza esitazione e che speriamo di poter ripetere.

La struttura era bellissima e molto accogliente, i padroni di casa erano gentilissimi e super disponibili.
