I absolutely pinched myself with the great fortune of finding the Serene Dog-Friendly Cottage. Very key: We had unit 6. Parking right next to our cottage and VERY convenient. Unlike other cottage properties in Cannon Beach, each cottage is stand alone and private with shared central courtyard with pond and frogs! Also, the reason why it's serene is because it's located in a neighborhood of home owners while being only a block and a half from the beach and half a block from the main road through town. In three minutes we were standing on the sand and looking straight at Haystack Rock. But the quiet of our location made it feel like we were a world away from the traffic of tourism. Location is a TEN! We are a family of four. Booking a place for a family can get really expensive. However, my husband and I and our two adult children had no problem settling into our wee dwelling. The value cost per head made this worth the small quarters. No one complains as long as everyone gets a bed. Our master bedroom (w/bathroom) was comfortable. Shower tiles seemed relatively new. Plenty of cottage charm and loads of windows to open and keep the fresh air flowing. The kitchen had a large fridge and the farm sink was huge. There were enough chairs for everyone to sit and enjoy our morning coffee. There was only one mug, so we bought a couple of souvenir mugs to manage through. Thankfully the coffee maker was a normal, Mr. Coffee, so we could buy the local Sleepy Monk coffee and brew our own. We mostly ate out but everything you might need to cook and grill were readily available. It was thrilling to get up in the morning and walk to Haystack Rock at low tide. The local, Mariner Market, had all the wood and marshmallow fixings for an evening bonfire on the beach. For four adults, I would say two nights are best. Maybe you could stretch to three. But beyond that it is too small a space.
The arrival/ability to access the property was slightly delayed because the access code was prefaced with 5 unnecessary digits. The good news is the rental company took our call in under a minute and immediately began trouble shooting. We must have been overheard by the cottage neighbors because they came out of their cottages and explained how to understand the code - they had also been given the wrong, long 15 digit code when it should have just contained the last ten. All resolved quickly and that's the important part. Responsiveness was great. We used our suitcase to store our clothes and slid the suitcase under the master bedroom bed. Otherwise, there is no chest of drawers.

Too small, even for 2. Definitely not 3 people

It was such a peaceful experience. I really enjoyed being able to sit outside and enjoy the quiet and then walk a short distance to the beach when I wanted. I also appreciated the fireplace.
The bathroom smelled like mold and gave me a headache. I left the bathroom door shut and window open to help ventilate, but something needs to be done. Also, the bedside lamps in the bedroom have a short and don't want to stay on. If not dangerous, then having the lamps not working is at least annoying.
