Heritage Retreat Fukuzumi

The entire house was huge unique and charming. The hotel next door had such a warm atmosphere

There are no plates or cutlery. So although there is a kettle you cannot make tea! Although there is a microwave there is nothing to eat on!

Short 10 minute walk from the train station. Quiet location. We booked this for 2 people and honestly it was way more room than we knew what to do with it. Plenty of room to spread out in this home. A/C units in sleeping areas increased the overall comfort for mid-May temps. Exceptionally clean. Microwave and small fridge were appreciated. Very close to the downtown shops, eateries, and transportation (train/bus). The private onsen was a welcome luxury at the end of a long day of sightseeing.

No daily housekeeping or new bath linens, but since we were there only 2 nights it was no big deal. Would have preferred a slightly thicker futon especially for those used to sleeping on a more cushiony mattress. Electric plugs to charge cell phones were limited. No drinking water or coffee provided like a typical hotel, but was available at the Rohen Hakone Yumoto hotel next door (I may have missed this detail when booking). We ended up buying instant coffee from one of the nearby shops and brewing that each morning.
