Albatross Lodge

Beautiful lodge. Lots of space. Comfy beds. Nicely decorated.

The shower on the main bathroom was out of use and we weren’t told before we arrived. Cutlery, crockery etc was all mis matching and no decent sharp knifes etc for cooking. Quite a few bulbs out on the property. Missing light cover on the main room. Towels were well used and only one each. On the last night the gas hob was leaking gas which was dangerous - we had to turn the gas off to the property. The owners sent someone first thing the next day which was good and hopefully it was sorted for the next guests. We had to pay £175 for guest passes - but when you get there you can’t use the pools etc as they are booked 3 weeks in advance - you are just paying for a pass to walk through a door if you want to get to the bars and restaurants. The food and drinks are really expensive. Activities are expensive but good. We booked the lodge for the private fishing peg - very disappointing that we could not fish there - the water is very shallow at the front. We were told by one of the staff it is a breeding lake and had been netted after spawning so carp fishing was impossible. We ended up having to get up early every day to go and fish at another lake. That wasn’t the owners fault - but for us the main purpose was to fish and we couldn’t do that.

LOCATION WAS EXCELLENT .. RIGHT ON THE LAKE .. OUR GRANDSON LOVED THE FISHING EVEN THOUGH IT WAS CHALLENGING AS THE FISH WERE NOT FEEDING !! IT WAS VERY CLEAN AND VERY SPACIOUS THE VIEWS FROM THE BALCONY OVERLOOKING THE LAKE AND FROM THE WINDOWS AT THE FRONT OF PROPERTY WERE OUTSTANDING .. OUR GRANDSON LOVED IT !!

NOTHING WE DIDNT LIKE .. THE DECKING AT THE BACK COULD DO WITH A BIT OF LIGHTING AND NEEDS A BIT OF ATTENTION BUT DIDNT SPOIL ANYTHING .. AGAIN THE VIEW ACROSS THE LAKE WAS OUTSTANDING

Great lodge for a family - good sized,comfortable bedrooms and huge upstairs space for cooking, eating and relaxing. Excellent communication from hosts. Note that there is (or was for us) an additional charge for use of onsite facilities. We didn’t use/need them but worth noting.

A few maintenance and equipment niggles but our stay was very early in the season so maybe just post winter works to be completed
