Our vacation home, “Le Ciel Bleu,” is located in Marienheide in the beautiful Bergisches Land region, just a few minutes’ walk from the Lingese Dam. Here, you can go swimming or paddle boating in the summer, ice skating in the winter, and—in between—spot wildlife in the nature reserve, go hiking, biking, or riding a motorcycle. The Balkantrasse bike path (a former railroad line) is part of the NRW Panorama Bike Paths network, which connects individual routes into a comprehensive system spanning over 300 kilometers, and is just 3.5 km from the house.
The Marienheide train station is 4.3 km away. From there, you can take trains to Cologne and Gummersbach. On the “Excursion Tips” page, we’ve put together some interesting suggestions that vacationers shouldn’t miss.
The house, with its large garden, is quietly situated on a cul-de-sac and invites you to relax, daydream, read, sunbathe, or enjoy a social vacation with family or friends. In addition to the patio furniture, there’s a gas grill for cozy barbecue evenings. Don’t miss the chance to gaze at the fantastic starry sky on clear nights! Two bicycles are available for short trips into town or the surrounding area. If the weather isn’t cooperating, there’s a TV with satellite reception and free Wi-Fi, as well as some books and board games.
