The mediaeval city of Lucca is just a 45 min jaunt and one can spend all day cycling the fully intact walls, exploring the many piazzas, climbing towers, designer shopping or just meandering and absorbing the wonderful atmosphere of Puccini's birthplace. Florence by car is circa 1 hour 30min, and Pisa airport around 1 hr 15 mins.
More locally there
For those who enjoy the outdoor life there is also a local tree climbing/zip wiring park a 20 minute drive away, with courses adapted for all age groups, from the very young to adults. Enjoy a picnic here too on hot days.
There are local adventure parks where one can try water canyoning, rock climbing, swimming in rock pools, canoeing etc and there is the Grotta del Vento, a massive cave system in the mountains which is a good day out.
There is an ancient fortress to visit also just a 25 minute drive , with jaw dropping views, and interacive displays for children including a chance to try a little archery..
This list is not of course exhaustive, but suffice to say the property is prefect for those seeking a wonderful rural property in a peaceful location with mountain vistas and for families that enjoy walking, nature and picnics and visiting local villages, yet within easy reach of towns too.
