Mövenpick Hotel Tashkent Old City

A newly built and recently opened hotel somewhere near the famous Chorsu market, it inherits all the merits one could imagine from a modern Chinese-invested hotel: quality kits and supplies, well-equipped amenities, and especially a very comfy duvet. The front desk team was attentive yet patient during check-in, kindly offered us an additional breakfast, and did a great job introducing all the services available. The only thing I could complain about was the lack of aesthetics in the bathroom signs, which is less impressive than the rest of the room. In bold, contrasting bright red and yellow, they reminded guests of the potentially slippery floor and how to open the shower door, though what is more slippery than the bathroom floor could ever be was the floor inside near the entrance to the room , even when perfectly dry, whose smoothness is a brutal test to someone wearing the slippers provided in the room, while not bearing sufficient caution and vigilance in mind. However, things went completely wrong during our second night. When the cool breeze of early autumn in Tashkent called us back to our room, we discovered that the key we had left in the slot to keep the a/c running against the heat of midday sun, has gone absent, not putting aside near the slot nor anywhere in the room. The front desk acted promptly after we called, gave us another key, and assured us that everything was fine, although they couldn't be sure whether the room attendant had taken the former one away during cleaning. That seemed fair enough. Later, it was 2 a.m., however, the hotel introduced us another mystery of a rather different kind. The room telephone rang. I have no idea what that call was about, and I suppose I'll never know. Such a horror is simply unsupportable, especially for travellers asleep when no calls has been anticipated. Should the hotel wonder why I would 100% NOT recommend it without any hesitation despite a promising start, they may find the answer in the mysteries remained on that day, at 2 a.m.
