Riad privatif Les Ibéris

I will start my review with the people as this was the best and most important thing for our family. Our host Khalid was superb, he was very kind and attentive and went to great trouble to make our stay work perfectly. One example was when he took the trouble to drive to the bus station to purchase tickets for us for our onward trip to Essaouira so I didn’t have to worry about doing it myself. There were many other kindnesses along the way. He spoke perfect English but also is fluent in Spanish, French and probably others too! We had a delicious breakfast made for us each morning by a lovely lady called Senna (apologies if I spelt that wrong) and she also cooked a fabulous tagine one lunch time which we enjoyed. She kept the riad clean throughout our stay and we had fun trying to learn basic Arabic words from her. Khalid arranged for a driver to collect us from the airport on arrival and he also became our driver for a day into the mountains. His name was Hamza and he spoke perfect English and was happy to chat with us in the car telling us about life in Morocco and we had some fun chatting about football too. The property itself was lovely, spacious and very nicely decorated. It felt very traditional but modern at the same time. The bedrooms were very comfortable and all had air conditioning which was a huge relief at night in the heat. The little pool in the courtyard was also very nice to cool off in late afternoon after a busy and hot day in the hustle and bustle of the city. The bathrooms were very clean, plenty of hot water for showers and clean towels were supplied. The location was superb. Just 10 mins maximum walk to the central square, Jemaa el-fnaa where you get to experience the very busy and vibrant side of life in Marrakech. I would recommend going at night and just taking it all in. We bought a drink from a roof top cafe which gave us amazing views of the busy square from above. We took a city tour and our guide, Omar was incredible.
