About this cottage rental

Arddwyn Cottage – Family Adventures from Coast to Mountains

Full of charm and character, Arddwyn is a beautifully furnished detached cottage that makes an ideal base for a fun-filled family holiday. With its traditional beams, cosy wood burner, and spacious open-plan living areas, it’s a welcoming home to return to after a day exploring. Outside, a sunny private courtyard with seating is the perfect spot to plan tomorrow’s adventures. The cottage also offers private parking for two cars, welcomes one medium-sized dog, and is non-smoking. (Please note: six steps in the courtyard.)

Just a short stroll away is the friendly village of Penrhyndeudraeth, where you’ll find a pub, cafés, shops, restaurants, and takeaways. The village is also home to the famous Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway—all aboard the steam train for a magical ride through the mountains or down to the coast at Porthmadog, a bustling harbour town packed with shops, eateries, and seaside charm.

This is a brilliant base for family adventures in Snowdonia National Park. Within minutes you can be climbing hills, following woodland trails, or trying thrilling activities. Head to Bounce Below to discover trampolines deep inside a slate cavern, take on the world-class zip wires at Blaenau Ffestiniog, or enjoy family cycling and mountain biking routes with incredible views.

For beach days, Black Rock Sands (5 miles) is a must—an enormous sandy stretch where children can run, paddle, and even watch cars drive along the beach. A little further afield you can explore rock pools, try watersports, or simply enjoy an ice cream by the sea.

Add to the adventure with a trip to the colourful Italianate village of Portmeirion (2 miles), or step back into history at Harlech Castle (8 miles), where children can imagine knights and battles high above the sea.

From castles to coastlines, steam trains to zip wires, Arddwyn Cottage puts endless family fun right on your doorstep.
