Tintern Abbey Cottage-amazing Abbey view, EV,5star

The cottage was 5 star. Beautifuly inviting down to the table laid out for dinner with linen napkins and candles. The beds were big and comfortable with lovely linens. The rooms were spacious, and the kitchen was so well fitted out. We had everything we needed for our stay. Well positioned for local sights and walks. The cottage has views from every front window of the Abbey. Fiona was very hands-on for any queries. Could heartily reckoned a stay at this beautifully restored cottage.

Nothing to dislike here. One of the nicest cottages we have ever stayed in.

The cottage itself is lovely and in a great location, and we can see why it would appeal to guests. However, our stay was let down by cleanliness issues, including an unclean kitchen and dining area, crumbs on the floor which attracted ants, and a number of cobwebs in the living space. We also experienced consistent noise at night from what sounded like mice in the loft, which disrupted our sleep. Following our check-in feedback, which was requested from the hosts, the owner attended the property unannounced. As a lone female guest at the time, I found this quite uncomfortable. During the visit, I was told the cottage had been left clean when we arrived, which left me feeling that my concerns were being dismissed rather than acknowledged. We were also encouraged to communicate outside of the booking platform used to make the reservation, Overall, while the property has a lot of potential, the cleanliness and maintenance issues significantly impacted our stay and we wouldn't book again.
