Duet hostel

Excellent place to stay. Very comfortable and a great hub for discovering more about the region and onwards travel. Staff are exceptional and the food is great. Highly recommend

We really enjoyed our stay at Duet Hostel, stayed 2 nights - before and after doing the Ala Kul hike. We stayed in one of the private rooms which felt like good value for money, and the food at Duet is really good too! We also got great support with booking yurts for our hike and also a driver for going from Karakol to Bishkek. Shoutout to Baur for really helping us with getting all booking arrangements in place! In total, would absolutely recommend Duet as your base when doing adventures around Karakol.

We stayed in a twin room with a private bathroom which was perfect post hike. There is a beautiful retro decorated common area as well as outdoor seating and the attached cafe which was also very cosy and welcoming. The staff were very friendly and helpful in helping us book our Ala Kul Pass hike (inc. yurt camp bookings, car transfer to first bridge, rental hiking poles and luggage storage). We also participated in the felt making workshop which we thoroughly enjoyed. The hostel is also very social, with lots of visitors completing the hike at partner yurt camps. Finally, a big shout out to Baur who helped us arrange a last minute private transfer to Kochkor.

Felt the twin room was slightly overpriced compared to other nearby accommodation options. However, the benefits of staying there regarding hiking organisational assistance made it worth it.

De gedeelde kamer was best ondermaats, super muf want er was slechts 1 klein raampje. De badkamer was krap & vochtig. De douches stonken behoorlijk naar schimmel, de douchekop was wel prima wat het al bij al nog oké maakte. Maar de bedden waren het slechtst… super doorgelegen, veringen in je rug, gevaarlijk trapje naar het bovenste bed, de stang waar de gordijntjes aanhingen kwam regelmatig los…
