The Trogon Knuckles

The place is beautiful and peaceful. We could relax and enjoy the scenery while the kids roamed free (isolated, no cars around, very little to worry about and we couldn’t the boys play - 3 and 5 year old) Dhanu and Hari were amazing hosts. Dhanu is a splendid cook, and food was simply delicious and tailored to both us and our two young kids. And both were always available to take us on adventures, and help us spot the local wildlife (even had a little night tour after diner to spot some nocturnal wild life with the kids) I could have easily stayed a lot longer! Accomodation itself is great value for money.

The food and excursions were a little bit more expensive thank we originally thought or expected (since the accomodation itself is actually really good value for money) but they were great. Depending on your budget just make sure to ask for the cost before heading out just so you don’t get a surprise :)

Die Lage ist super abgelegen, dass muss einem klar sein, aber dafür sind wir auch gekommen. Hoch in den Bergen gelegen und direkt an den Wanderrouten. Die Nähe zur Natur der gesamten Anlage ist klasse. Das Essen ist ebenfalls super lecker und wird immer frisch zubereitet. Die Gastgeber sind super hilfreich und haben uns super Tipps für den Rest der Reise gegeben und sogar ein Shirt nachgeschickt. Die geführten Wanderungen sind nicht günstig. Trotz schlechtem Wetter haben wir die Tour aber durchgezogen.

Its location close to the Knuckles Forest area makes it a great choice for anyone looking for a quiet nature getaway. 🍽️ Food: The food was good. However, I definitely recommend discussing your food preferences and requirements with the hotel team in advance. They are very helpful and will do their best to arrange what you need. 🛏️ Rooms: The rooms are spacious and comfortable. I really liked how the room design matches the hotel's overall concept and the surrounding natural environment. 📱 Mobile Signal & Internet: Mobile signal is quite poor in this area, mainly because the hotel is very close to the Knuckles Forest region. However, the hotel provides internet access in the dining and meeting areas, and Wi-Fi facilities are expected to be available in the rooms soon. 🥾 For hiking and nature lovers: If you are planning to hike or explore the Knuckles mountain area, this is an excellent place to stay. The team has valuable experience with the local wildlife, environment, and walking trails, and they can help arrange suitable trails and nature experiences. 💡 My Recommendation: If you are planning to visit, I strongly recommend contacting The Trogon Knuckles through WhatsApp before your trip and discussing all your requirements and the facilities you need. The team is very helpful and will try their best to arrange everything for you. 🌄 Overall: I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a calm, peaceful, and beautiful environment surrounded by nature. The food was tasty and well prepared, with a good selection of meal options. The pricing is on the higher side, which is understandable given the location and the overall experience. I would recommend discussing your meal preferences and requirements with the hotel team in advance so they can arrange the best options for you.

Pour notre famille composée de deux adultes et 3 enfants, nous avons réservé les 2 logements. Ils sont tous les deux confortables, fonctionnels et décorés avec élégance. Nous avons tous bien dormi. Il est situé à environ 1300m d’altitude. Pas besoin de climatisation ou de moustiquaire. L’équipe qui gère le lieu est exceptionnelle : Haritha a su s’adapter à notre famille pour nous proposer de super randonnées dans les montagnes, à la découverte de la faune et de la flore. Dhanuka est un cuisinier hors pair digne d’un chef de restaurant étoilé. Il nous a préparé d’excellents petits déjeuners et dîner (20$ par personne). Les meilleurs repas que nous avons pris au Sri Lanka. Tharindu est très à l’écoute, toujours prêt à aider. Pila, l’ancien, n’hésite pas à donner des explications sur ce petit coin de paradis. Nous sommes restés 4 nuits et avons fait 3 randonnées avec Haritha : une petite promenade de 2-3 heures autour du logement en fin d’après-midi où nous avons pu découvrir plusieurs oiseaux, les champs de thé et vu un sanglier (wild pig) ; une randonnée à la journée pour aller au pic de Knuckles (1860m d’altitude) avec la découverte de nombreux lézards, fleurs, champignons, insectes ; la troisième randonnée à durée environ 7-8 heures et nous a amené dans la jungle à 850m d’altitude en contrebas du logement et nous avons pu nous baigner au pied d’une cascade.
