Summary:

Greenwood Beach Cottage

The Space:

Picture yourself at this cozy, dog-friendly cottage with spectacular views, just steps from Greenwood State Beach and cove. This rental is perfect for a romantic getaway where you can enjoy the majesty of the ocean out on the deck while you sip your favorite beverage, take in the amazing show of stars in the evening, or head inside and cozy up in front of the fireplace.

What's nearby:

Maritime Cafe is a two-minute walk from the cottage, while the Elk Grocery and Deli next door has all the fixings to fill your picnic baskets. Just 10 miles up the coast, enjoy dinner at Ledford House or the Albion River Inn, or continue north a few more miles to reach the picturesque community of Mendocino. With its quaint period inns, breathtaking views, and superb restaurants, Mendocino is bursting with artsy, unique shops for all. Visit the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens that overlook the ocean or explore the “secret” Glass Beach near Fort Bragg where the ground glistens with multicolored sea glass.

If you’re interested in hiking or doing some wine-tasting at the houses of nationally acclaimed local labels, travel east to walk among the expansive set of old redwoods at Hendy Woods State Parks, and then visit a host of famous vineyards and wineries - such as Navarro and Husch - nestled throughout the Tuscany-inspired Anderson Valley.

Location/views splendid. Cottage was well equipped and comfortable. Great bed - view from the main bedroom and listening to the waves marvelous. We didn’t do any fancy cooking but kitchen had everything we needed.Plenty of warmth and fireplace a nice touch.Access to the beach easy and close by.The only glitches were quickly attended to (1. Check in instructions did not arrive as indicated. We called but voice mail was full. I sent a message through the website and got a call back within 10 minutes and we resolved it.2. Shower door fell off part way through our stay. I sent a message through the website requesting repair and suggesting a best timeframe for us the next day. Quickly got a response apologizing and stating maintenance would come the following day at the requested time - which they did).Property itself could use some weed eating maintenance.Elk is a very cute small town. The listing spoke about the restaurant Queenie’s, but it has been closed since 2023. The Elk Store does have good deli sandwiches, and some breakfast sandwiches but folks should plan on bringing most of what they want to eat.The Maritime Cafe is located in the former Queenie’s spot. They are only open Th -Sunday but we had a great meal there. We also ate at Sibo, which is part of The Elk Cove Inn. Pricey, beautiful location. I had an exquisite salmon dish. My wife had a cassoulet that was disappointing. They also are only open Th - Sun.

House could use more visible numbers to see at driveway entrance. Very clean. In need of new window treatments. Great view.

The views of the ocean alone, are worth the stay. The home was cozy, charming, with all the privacy you could ask for. Well maintained and well equipped with cookware, essential toiletries, and outdoor grill. Had a very pleasant stay from Friday-Sunday. With it only being 25 minutes to the hikes and sight-seeing we did in Mendocino, the drive was scenic and felt much shorter. Would love to visit again soon.

Don’t stay here if you don’t have four wheel drive we could not get our car out of the gravel drive way for one hour and Vacasa was no help. The house is adequate the view is breathtaking. The little town is great. But I would never stay in a Vacasa managed property again.
