About this cottage rental

Firewood for the fireplace and barbecue is included in the final price.

Traditional country house located in Sierra Morena, in the Los Pedroches region of Córdoba. It sits within ecological olive groves, the largest in Europe.
Our cortijo is 50 kilometres from Córdoba.
The house has 6 bedrooms, a large living room with a fireplace, a private pool, and a barbecue area.
You can enjoy hiking and nature watching. Nearby you will find charming mountain villages.

It is worth visiting at any time of the year: in autumn, when the fields turn green and the first fireplaces are lit; in winter, during the olive harvest; in spring, when the countryside resembles a garden full of flowers; and in summer, thanks to the swimming pool and the proximity to Córdoba and the rest of Andalusia.

Andalusia

Our house is close to Córdoba, home to major monuments such as the Mosque–Cathedral, Medina Azahara and the Royal Alcázars. If you visit in May, you can enjoy the Crosses Festival, the Patios Festival, and the Córdoba Fair.
You can also visit Seville and Granada, with the Alhambra.
From our cortijo, you can easily reach Úbeda and Baeza, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites and jewels of the Andalusian Renaissance.

Our region

Our region is attractive for countless reasons. We have the Cardeña–Montoro Natural Park, the largest reserve of Iberian Lynx in Spain. Our 17 villages are unique because, being located at the crossroads between La Mancha and Extremadura, they combine features from all three areas.
We also boast exquisite cuisine based on Iberian pork, with a Protected Designation of Origin for its cured hams. We have excellent beef and lamb, quality cheeses, and organic olive oil produced from the mountain olive groves.
Nature here is exceptionally rich, with diverse habitats such as dehesa woodlands and steppe areas where cranes feed in winter. Pure Mediterranean forest can also be found very close to our cortijo.

The mountains and our surroundings

We are in Sierra Morena. The Sierra de Los Pedroches has 10,000 hectares of organic olive groves, a testament to the hard work of the local people who planted them. Today, most of these groves are managed organically due to their low profitability.
Because of the steep slopes, some areas were never cultivated, and pure Mediterranean forest still survives there. These areas can be visited via the Peña Águila trail, which once connected the villages of Obejo and Pozoblanco. Today it is a beautiful walk with stunning panoramic views, where you can still see trenches from the Spanish Civil War.

It’s an amazing place for relax, you have your own swimming pool. Owner is amazing person. Just 2 things that might be useful: if you are an addict of internet bring your own modem for 4g. And be aware that the place is a little far of the big cities. So buy stuff before come Cool place!

If you are looking for a location to truly get away from it all then this is the place for you. The house is well equipped and has stunning views all around. It is very rural and is about a 30 minute drive from the nearest little village, Villaharta, that has a small grocery shop and a bar and restaurant and its about an hours drive to the larger town of Posoblanco, which has a couple of larger grocery stores. To get to the villa you have to drive up a very bendy and windy road that is narrow in places so if you suffer with motion sickness you might want to take a bag with you but again the scenery is breathtaking. The owner, Daniel and his wife, were extremely friendly and helpful. We had a very relaxing holiday and the pool was fantastic especially as temperatures reached over 40*c on most days. One thing to be aware of is during the summer months because of the heat and dryness barbeques are not permitted and also due to water restrictions you cannot book for more than 6 people. If you are wanting peace and tranquillity where the only things you can hear are the birds singing, cicadas buzzing and the donkeys braying then this place is ideal.

I would recommend taking a few day's worth of food with you, as once you get there, you wont want to leave in a hurry. The Villa is deep in the Pedroches but next to Cordoba, and the area and the people are incredible. Its definitely out in the wilderness, and that's its appeal. We spent most of our time either lounging around the pool, or eating on the balcony, and took the occasional walk up to the viewpoint. Just a wonderful area, and so different from most holidays i've had. The villa is well equipped, clean, and has everything we needed. Grapes hang over the balcony, the kids befriended the donkeys next door, there's a huge outside BBQ, and the villa is a really good size, what more could you need? It seems that the upstairs has recently been renovated, and I can tell it is a well loved place. Looking forward to coming back, and I would recommend this to anyone who wants to really wants to get away
