The Stables

We stayed at the Stables as a pit stop on the way to Cornwall but could easily have stayed longer. The property is well furnished, very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The bed was very comfy, the shower very powerful and hot (it's quite rare that I enjoy a shower away from home). The kitchen had everything you could need The outside space was also lovely although the drought and heatwaves have left it feeling like we were in a greek or Turkish setting! And when our dog decided he would invite him into the adjacent owners' house they brought him back after making friends! We really enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to return

Nothing at all

The property was clean, spacious and so welcoming for us and the dogs. Treats and a water bowl was a great touch for the dogs. The water pressure in the bathrooms was fantastic and the en-suite shower room was fab. Felt totally at home and will definitely stay again…. If they’ll have us.

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like but I do think if you have mobility issues the entrance may be a problem.

Serene Devon getaway spot, perfect if attending events at the Lapford Mill next door. Convenient to the Lapford train station and Spar convenience store.

Pristine location with a private apple orchard, right by a little creek. Super friendly owners who'll stop by to help you if you can't figure out how the oven works. If you want to host a dinner and have friends come over, an Airbnb like this is always superior to a hotel stay. If you need a great pub after that, just walk up the hill to the fabulous Old Malt Scoop.

There was nothing not to like, we had a great time. English homes can get hot in the summer because no one has air con, but that's just a fact of life.
