Beautiful Property, Absolutely Pathetic Hospitality – Extremely Disappointing Experience Despite the property being beautiful, our stay at Hope Horizon Villa by Lex Stays, Coonoor, turned out to be extremely disappointing, primarily because of the unprofessional and rude behaviour of one of the caretakers, Victoria. There were two caretakers during our stay, Peter and Victoria. Peter was nice and well-behaved, but unfortunately, Victoria’s attitude completely ruined our experience. Her way of speaking to guests was extremely rude and unwelcoming. She would speak harshly over the smallest things, and whenever we approached her with a request, her responses were unnecessarily rude. One particular incident perfectly describes our experience. We had been told that dosa would be prepared for breakfast. However, my wife does not eat dosa, so I politely requested Victoria to prepare poori bhaji for her as well. Instead of explaining the situation normally and politely, Victoria came to our room, knocked on the door, and rudely questioned why we were asking for poori bhaji when she had already informed us that dosa would be made and had purchased all the ingredients for it. We completely understand that arrangements are made in advance and that an additional request may not always be possible. However, there was absolutely no need to speak to us in such a disrespectful manner. A simple, polite explanation would have been more than enough. It was her tone and attitude, rather than the inability to fulfil the request, that upset us. Our experience with the laundry service was equally disappointing. We gave our clothes to Victoria for washing, but they were returned unfolded and not ironed. When we asked if the clothes could be ironed, she rudely responded, “No, no, no ironing, just washing. Take your clothes and keep.” If ironing was not part of the service, she could simply have explained that politely beforehand. Instead, we were once again made to feel as though we were bothering her by asking a reasonable question. We came here expecting a peaceful, comfortable stay, but instead, we felt unwelcome and uncomfortable making even simple requests. We were paying guests, and we believe that basic courtesy, respectful communication, and professionalism are the bare minimum expected from any hospitality property. It is genuinely unfortunate that such a beautiful property has left us with such terrible memories because of the behaviour of the person responsible for interacting with guests. Good hospitality is just as important as the property itself, and unfortunately, our experience with Victoria was the complete opposite of what we expected. Peter deserves a mention for being nice and well-behaved, but his positive attitude could not compensate for the repeated unpleasant interactions we experienced with Victoria. Our sincere request to the management is to take this feedback seriously and address the caretaker’s attitude towards guests. Guests should never feel uncomfortable or unwelcome for making simple requests about breakfast, laundry, or other basic requirements during their stay. Overall, this was an extremely unpleasant and disappointing experience. No matter how beautiful the property may be, we would never want to choose this property ever again. A beautiful location cannot compensate for such poor hospitality. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this place to anyone who values respectful treatment, professional service, and a peaceful stay.
