This place was def quirky with its different rooms, plenty of space and having a stove to cook on and a washing machine was a bonus. Going through the shower to get to the toilet was somewhat weird to start with but we soon got used to it.

Outlook from the little terrace out the back across the charming garden is delightful. The location is convenient for the town, the beaches and many of the interesting walks and sights. The gift of fresh eggs from the house hens was much appreciated. The price was agreeably modest, but this is reflected in the facilities and construction of the Den.
The facilities really need a review. We learnt to cope with the eccentricities of the shower (how to avoid a flood, how to unblock the drain) and the tiny cooking and eating spaces, but the lack of simple things, like a mirror, a chopping board, a towel rail grew annoying. It felt like someone eccentric, who didn't do much cooking, had just moved out and all his stuff had just been left there.

At first I wasn't sure about this place when we arrived, it has some weird and quirky things about it (shower and toilet right off the kitchen), but soon came to love it's uniqueness. It was comfortable and well equipped and the view out the back over the field was lovely. It has potential to be even better, but I would return again as it has a very `Takaka' feel about it. :)
Going through the shower to the toilet was weird, and the toilet was very low, which might not suit older people. The shower did flood on one of the days, but I believe they are in the process of fixing that. Some of the outdoor furniture needs and upgrade and it would be wonderful to have doors from the lounge open on to a larger deck, that would improve the holiday experience for visitors a lot.

It was private, quiet and had everything we needed for our stay. Great shower, comfy bed, great wee kitchen and lovely garden surroundings.
