Sweetbriar House - Art Deco Torbay retreat

Lovely house in a quiet location.. short, fairly steep hill to get to the property with luggage but we weren't disappointed on arrival at the property. It had everything we needed and was clean throughout. Tea/coffee/milk & biscuits were a nice touch and the slippers came in handy :-) Communication for booking was great and Chris, the host, gave us details of a choice of roads nearby where we were able to park the car on Friday and return on Monday. The beds were comfy and the bedrooms were a good size downstairs. The 2 rooms in the attic conversion were quaint and cozy. We all had a lovely stay and would definitely return to Paignton.

The property was lovely and had plenty of space, clean and tidy and had everything you needed. The only issue we had was finding the place as the pictures the landlord sent were not that clear and the climb to get to the property front door was not ideal but doable. Parking on the pavement with hazard lights on to unload the car. No parking at the property however the locals know the best places and although its pot luck there is parking within a 5 min walk to the property. The two loft converted bedrooms are great if you have small children but it was like an oven. We appreciated that the owner wants to keep the place tidy and costs to replace carpets is not cheap, but it takes away the relaxed vibe the property gives because you have to remember to take you shoes off and put the provided slippers on every time to walk into the bedroom. Would we stay here again, probably not as it is about 10/15mins to walk to the beech, or longer as you have to walk through the busy shopping centre of Paignton which caters for everything.

Wearing the provided slippers all the time when in the house. I had my own but felt obliged and intimidated for bringing my own. The outside area needed a lot of work to make it a more social area to sit and chill and enjoy the British sunshine.

Such a beautiful house with all the amenities you would need. The guests enjoyment and ease of stay has clearly been thought of from the slippers to the toiletries. This is the perfect place to stay for families or friend groups like we did.

Lovely building with plenty of room for the family, kitchen well equipped sand for proximity to shops, places to eat and attractions. Even has a sea view where you can catch the sun rise. Excellent communication from the owners. The conservatory was perfect for meals and family games. We also made good use of the very close by public transport connections to visit Torquay and Brixham.

We did struggle with parking, there were places to park but it was quite busy and we had to park further away than we'd expected.
