Auld Haa Apartments, Shetland Islands

Flat was cold when I arrived, like an ice box. Storage heaters weren't on and I immediately had to call out the landlord to deliver a heater until they warmed up. In my home country when I left it was 32 degrees; at the flat in Scalloway, outside, in August, it was 12. Inside, cooler still. They did deliver a heater and all was well after that. As is the case with many apartments these days, and its a shame, the "support" telephone number put me through to a call centre in Castle Donington, hundreds of miles away in England (the flat is in the Shetland Islands!). The operative, from the Philippines, hadn't a clue about the Shetlands, their whereabouts, the likely temperature there, nor anything about the flat I was staying in. It needed several telephone calls, and more than an hour, to get some action. Why why why do owners feel this type of coverage is worth the money, and the very likely shortfalls - like this one to the reputation of the apartment in the future? I have no idea. It's a big shame because in every other way the flat was exactly what I had hoped it would be.

Everything was great but in such a spacious bedroom the bed could be bigger. There are quite a lot of steps up to the 3rd floor apartment with luggage.

Beautiful apartment in a historic building- see the information panel in the car park over the road. Very well equipped and has what you need for a short stay.

Nothing
