House of Agnes

Survived my stay at House of Agnes against all odds. Upon arrival, I was shocked to discover that the host did not provide a formal induction course covering advanced toaster operation, kitchen navigation, and outdoor seating etiquette. Despite this, I bravely managed to locate the shared kitchen and, after several moments of soul-searching, successfully made a cup of tea. The room was comfortable, the location was excellent, and I somehow endured the traumatic experience of staying in a lived-in home where another human being also existed. I was not assigned a personal guide, given a map of the premises, or escorted to every advertised facility. Nevertheless, through determination and independent thought, I managed to identify the bathroom, bed, and front door without assistance. I cannot comment on the alleged rogue toothpaste flecks, as I was too busy enjoying my stay and exploring the local area. Overall, a pleasant stay. Would happily return, assuming I can once again summon the courage to use a shared kitchen without written permission.

There is a shared bathroom but that’s why the price reflects it, and that’s not an issue just something to remember

I am honestly baffled by some of the lower reviews for this place because our stay was absolutely wonderful. The house is lovely and quirky, with a distinct boutique feel that makes it stand out from your typical rental. We fell in love with all the vibrant colors throughout the home, and arriving to the smell of fresh flowers in our room was such a thoughtful, high-end touch. Everything felt incredibly cosy and clean, making it the perfect place to relax. A huge thank you to Agnes, who was so friendly and helpful from start to finish. I still can’t believe she renovated the entire house herself—the craftsmanship and eye for detail are truly impressive. We can’t wait to come back!

The room was small, but comfortable and fine for what we needed. The location was ideal for us, near the station and allowing good access to the surrounding areas.

The listing also advertised a wide range of facilities, such as private check‑in, a shared kitchen, outdoor seating, washing machine, work desk, wardrobe, toaster, and more but none of this was available or explained/made clear when we arrived. We were not really welcomed, or given any information about what we could use or how things worked. There was no communication at all, we felt uncomfortable using the kitchen or other shared spaces, unsure whether we were intruding on her personal routine and not having been invited/shown around. Cleanliness and upkeep were also below my expectations. I cut my hand on a nail protruding from the back of the bedroom door, the paintwork and finishes were poor, the room was dusty, and the bathroom had visible toothpaste flecks on the basin and mirror. These details made the space feel unprepared for guests. Overall, the combination of unclear expectations, lack of communication, and the condition of the room meant we did not feel entirely comfortable during our stay.
