Casuccia Theatre Apartment by Doors Valletta

Great location, great facilites, good communication with the host.

The location was amazing, right around the corner from the main hub of Valletta. The flat was comfortable with all necessary amenities provided (other than shampoo/body wash). They provided bottled water as well which was very nice upon arrival when you can't drink the tap water in Valetta. The host was super responsive and proactive with any issues or questions we had.

The church bells!! This was mentioned in other reviews that the apartment was directly across from church bells, but I assumed it would only ring on Sunday morning. Unfortunately, it rang every morning at 7am, 7:30am, and again at 8am. So not only do they wake you up, they prevent you from falling back asleep. The sound proofing around the front doors is very poor, so the bells are excessively loud, and since the apartment leads directly onto the street, you could hear conversations of anyone standing outside the door word-for-word. We are fairly heavy sleepers, so traffic sounds didn't bother us, but at times it felt like people were trying to break into the flat (they weren't, but the noises were so close it was disconcerting). On top of this, it was a public holiday on our final morning. After the regular bells from 7-8am, they rang continuously in a overlapping cacophony from around 830am to 1030am. The only repreive you could get from the noise was in the bathroom. We basically ran out the front doors for check-out, and the bells could still be heard in the city center. As we were getting ready to leave, we could even hear the locals outside our doors shouting "enough already" and "we get it". Obviously, there isn't much the host can do about this, other than potentially sound proofing the front doors to mute the noise for future customers. But it is definitely something to be aware of when booking.
