The rooms were huge and spotless. The pool was very nice! The location was excellent and the staff were wonderful. Highly recommend!

Every once in a while, you come across a hotel that spoils travel for you. This was one of mine. The only pros about this hotel - location, and that a breakfast is included (for non meat-eaters, poor value but expected in Lao). Other than that, the basics you expect from a hotel - comfort, cleanliness, and sleep, are all missing to varying extents. Building construction nearby wakes you up at 6.30 AM with drills and tools, and extremely thin walls mean that your neighbors snoring is not only his wife's problem anymore. Rooms are constantly in a state of dust and the pool is a cold mess teeming with mosquitoes in the evening. From day 1, you get the feeling you're taken for a ride with the 'services' they offer - services, you quickly find, are a fair bit cheaper if you walk 2 minutes around the corner of the road. That bike hire they quoted 540k LAK for? 350 around the corner (go to Mr ***, great guy!). That paracopter tour they quoted USD75 for? 55 in a nearby hostel. The highlight however was their (undocumented) policy on lost key cards. Having stayed in a few thousand hotels, it came as a surprise that a hotel can charge nearly half the price of the room for a lost card key card (200,000 LAK or 20USD in this case). No policy document, no warning - and not even a physical key. Thankfully I managed to find my key and get the money back but beyond shady behaviour. The cherry on top - had a train in the morning at 8, asked them where I can get a TukTuk or taxi from and the receptionist said no shared tuktuks form city, and Local app does not work here, and I have to take a private transfer. They charged me 150k for it, said I'll have to leave much earlier as there's a concert happening on the way. The next day, the driver was 20 minutes late, and then proceeds to stop to collect other people walking on the road charging them 50k to be dropped off at the bus station and train station (I paid 150k for my transfer). Overall - dishonest people and not trustable for your holiday. Stay here if you're very budget conscious (although what you get for the price with the construction next door is not justifiable), and DO NOT use any of their travel/tour services.
