About this house rental

Summary:

Stay in one of Michigan’s oldest homes, a charming retreat in the heart of Saugatuck. Perfect for families or groups, it features 2 kitchens, vaulted ceilings, and a wood-burning fireplace. Outdoors, enjoy a shaded deck, yard games, fire pit, and grill. Walk to Lake Michigan beaches and downtown Saugatuck, where art galleries, dining, and small-town charm make it a perfect year-round getaway.

The Space:

Welcome to The Elizabeth House, a piece of Saugatuck history. Originally built in 1834 as a farmhouse for surrounding land purchased in 1833, this charming home blends its rich past with modern comfort. The original structure, complete with attic dormers and timeless character, along with later additions in the 20th century, now offers travelers a warm and inviting retreat just steps from both the lake and downtown. This 4-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom Saugatuck retreat combines historic charm with modern comfort, making it perfect for multi-generational travel, small groups, or families.

The home features two kitchens—one on each floor—ideal for group travel, plus a formal dining room for six and a kitchen counter with seating for four. Gather in the living room with its vaulted ceilings and wood-burning fireplace, or spread out across the spacious layout with bedrooms on both levels: two on the first floor (including a king primary and a double) and two upstairs (a king and a queen) as well as 1 twin foldaway bed for upstairs.

Outdoors, enjoy a large wooden deck shaded by mature trees, perfect for morning coffee or evening dinners. The yard is made for fun with games like badminton, soccer, and volleyball, plus a fire pit and propane grill for relaxed nights under the stars. With a long driveway that fits up to 8 cars and 4 bikes for adults and 2 for kids, exploring Saugatuck is easy.

Best of all, you’re walkable to downtown, the Kalamazoo River, and Lake Michigan’s beaches—giving you the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure.

Whether you’re here for a family vacation, group getaway, or year-round escape, this historic home invites you to experience the charm and beauty of Saugatuck in a setting unlike any other.

The pictures of this place don't do it justice. Very cute, cozy historical home. The fireplace in the living room was great for our November stay. Would definitely stay again

Amazing host and a beautiful destination for winter weather! JMK, was a wonderful host, very attentive to every detail. When an unexpected snowstorm hit, he shoveled us all out by hand. If you ever watched home alone 1, this house had that kind of vibe. There was beautiful art and history everywhere you looked. The weather kept us inside, but with the fully stocked game closet, the libraries, and filled to the brim with art you can google search we were well entertained. When we arrived, we were greeted by a printed history of the house, a handwritten note, and a warm fire in the fireplace. JMK, was the consummate host!
