About this apartment rental
The apartment is located on the mezzanine level of the eastern wing of the building. The new, spacious staircase leads to a series of rooms that extends across the entire depth of the house: living room, kitchen, dining room, and bedroom—connected by a clear axis with views linking the Komturei courtyard to the church square and the imposing St. Johannis Church. The kitchen faces east toward the old dovecote and the barn. From there, the path continues into the dining room. Here, a glass door opens onto the garden—featuring a private seating area, access to the courtyard, and a direct path to the church. The bedroom is located on the quiet north side, with a window facing the square. *The living room—which can be separated by a door—can be converted into a bedroom for two additional people. Heating is provided by ceiling and floor heating. In the summer, ceiling cooling ensures a pleasant climate. Eco-friendly building materials define the ambience: clay plaster, clay paint, and wood-fiber insulation.
If you’re in the mood for fresh local vegetables and fruit, you can order an organic produce box from Grünland in Salzwedel. Deliveries arrive on Fridays—and can even be arranged before your arrival. Hidden in the cupboard under the stairs is a small house store stocked with fine foods and beverages—such as apple juice from Mühlenberg, bread mix, honey, pasta, pesto, and more. And if you feel like browsing, you might find the perfect book for a quiet hour on the shared bookshelf.
The sauna in the old vaulted cellar of the caretaker’s house is open to all guests.
