About this apartment rental
The apartment is located on the mezzanine level of the old administrative wing—the most prestigious part of the Komturei. In the past, guests were received here and celebrations were held; later, it was part of the LPG. Now it has been transformed into a bright, spacious place for up to four people—offering tranquility, expansive views, and a sense of thoughtful simplicity. The living area is open-concept, featuring a kitchen island, a large table, and a wood-burning stove. Two tall windows let in light from the south and west, offering views of the courtyard and the Romanesque house. From the architecturally distinctive balcony, you can watch the day slowly draw to a close. The two bedrooms are situated on the quiet north side—with views of the church square and St. John’s Church. Two bathrooms with wooden fixtures make the apartment ideal for families or couples with friends. Heating is provided by a ceiling-mounted system that can also cool the space in the summer. In addition, there is underfloor heating in the bathrooms and a wood-burning stove in the living room—ensuring comfort in every season. The materials: clay plaster, clay paint, wood fiber insulation—breathable, natural, and soothing.
If you’re in the mood for fresh local fruits and vegetables, you can order an organic box from Grünland in Salzwedel. Delivery arrives on Fridays—and can even be arranged before your arrival. Hidden in the cupboard under the stairs is a small shop with fine foods and beverages—such as apple juice from Mühlenberg, bread mix, honey, pasta, pesto, and more. And if you feel like browsing, you might find the perfect book for a quiet hour on the communal bookshelf.
The sauna in the old vaulted cellar of the caretaker’s house is open to all guests.
