AXO Waterloo in London

The location is perfect. The room is simple but effective. The bed was very comfortable. There's plenty of storage and a desk. WiFi is fast. It was pretty quiet throughout my stay (3 nights). Key tag to walk in and out of the building.

The entire bathroom gets wet when you shower because there's no shower box, only a curtain and the floor is plain. The windows in the bedroom are old and tricky to open. To enter your room you have a key separate from the key tag, wish you could use the key tag for everything. No access to the kitchen.

Overall I rate this as value for money. I stayed here in July, so the students have left. It is a basic room, but it has what you need (single bed, desk, cupboard, private bathroom). Bathroom was quite old. It was quiet, no noise complaints. I mainly booked this for the location (150m from Waterloo station, and overall a nice area to stay in) combined with the price, which for London I thought was very reasonable. I only had access to my room, not to the other shared facilities (like kitchens, which all have door codes as well). For people staying longer that might be handy to have as well - to have access to a fridge and making yourself breakfast in the morning. The building does not offer breakfast, but there are plenty of places in the train station where you can get breakfast. I arrived on a Sunday, so there is no one at the reception desk, so make sure you get in advance the proper instructions to get your key from the lockbox, and the code to open the front door.

Perfectly central place, basic but great value for money. The room was quiet, private and good size.

The bathroom sensor lights were a little annoying, they switched off every 1-2min and I had to keep waving my hands while in the bathroom. Also, the lights are very bright and I would prefer to not have them automatically turn on when I used the toilet in the night, it was hard to go back to sleep after. The room has a large window to a lovely courtyard. I would have loved to open it just a tiny bit for some fresh air but there was always someone smoking right outside the window and the smoke got trapped in the room and I felt like I was in a gas chamber. The smoke came into the room through the closed windows as well. There's no aircon and the week I was there was very hot (over 30s everyday), if I could have opened the windows wouldn't been ok but due to the cigarette smoke it was not possible.

Location is great , good for solo travelers

I couldn't see any staff during my stay, there is no storage to leave your luggage for few hours, and corridor was always smelling weed or other smells.
