Whoopers Hostel Ao Nang - By The Beach

The location was great, right next to the night market and pier for longtail boats. The staff were friendly and very helpful

Everything was amazing, big lockers perfect for backpackers, total privacy in the beds. Bathrooms were all nice and cleaned daily. Staff were really friendly and helpful with extending stay. Also location was great, right next to the beach and the night market. Also the little fans in every bed were awesome!

Only issue at all was a girl staying in the dorm had a pair of shoes stolen from the shoe rack.

Great place with welcoming staff, right by the beach, beds feel very private and music stops at 12 am, so it's convenient to sleep :)

A bit hard beds

Comfy bed, we stayed in the four bed, I found the top bunk the comfiest as they had a mattress protector but the bottom bunks weren’t as comfy. The lockers are outside the room which makes a huge difference, limited noise. The only down side is the height of the lockers, we were initially offered the top locker which is unreachable, I am 5’4. Even if you are tall it would be a stretch. I’d recommend getting a step or ladder to get access. The staff managed to change our lockers, still struggled to access number 2 locker. Staff chatty and welcoming. Free fried rice dinner on Sundays, which was nice!

Although the staff spent a lot of their time mopping the facilities weren’t that clean. The kitchen was filthy and the fridge was disgusting it was in need of a deep clean. I would recommend changing the fans in the bedrooms they don’t work, the aircon is also kept on in the day but turned off at night, which doesn’t make sense, as no one is in the room in the day. We organised a bus to Kata beach, the staff said we would set off at 9.30am, they failed to mentioned there would be an hour wait in Krabi town centre, and we would change buses 3 times. We were completely miss sold, I wouldn’t recommend getting any transport organised through the hostel, use the apps instead. The place was crawling with mosquitoes, we stayed in the four bed, the bathroom was outside of the room and it hadn’t been cleaned very well, someone’s boxers were in there damp and mouldy. It had a very bad damp smell. I think this attracted more mosquitoes into the building. The location isn’t the best it’s about a 20 minute walk to the main beach, the one next to the hostel isn’t the nicest. I’d recommend moving the benches outside and the bean bags inside, they were covered in flies as they are attracted to the colour red. They’re so much comfy than the benches that are inside the hostel. Overall it was an okay stay slightly over priced for the condition of the hostel and the location.
