    Having stayed at The Bull Hotel these past few days, we were very pleased with our room. Very spacious, clean, topped up with tea & coffee sachets & 2 bottles of water. Also on two very hot days, our room wasn't hot at all, the temperature was just right. The woman who showed us to our room very friendly as well. With staying in different rooms all over the Country for Leisure purposes, this is right up there as one of the best for value. We would definitely stay there again if visiting Salisbury.

    Unfortunately, we can’t really recommend a stay at The Bull in Downton. We have used the Bull on two separate occasions now, when visiting family. On the first occasion, they had just changed the locks on the external doors but hadn’t checked whether the keys they gave us would work to gain entry to the pub after hours. As a result, we arrived back late and couldn't get in. There was an after hours contact number but no answer after numerous attempts calling and knocking on the doors. Eventually, we ended up sleeping in the car, in the pub car park. To be fair, when we did gain access the following morning, they apologised profusely and did refund the cost of the room that we hadn’t stayed in. Because of this, we decided we would give it a second go the next time we visited. On this occasion, we booked a family room with ensuite. However, we were given a room without an ensuite, adjacent to another room with a shared bathroom. When I complained, I was told there wasn’t anyone else in the other room, so it would be okay to use the shared bathroom as an ensuite. This room itself was pretty tired and what was the shared bathroom, needs a full renovation at best, decorating at worst. Again, in mitigation, the rooms are cheap, but after two visits now, we can’t really recommend this as a place to stay moving forward. A shame because accommodation options in Downton are limited.
