We arrived at the property and were warmly welcomed by the reception team. There was a small misunderstanding with the booking, as I had reserved a family room for three adults but their system showed it for two. This was quickly resolved, and after paying for the additional guest, we settled into our ground‑floor room. The venue itself is clean, peaceful, and set in a quaint location within walking distance of shops and restaurants. I initially offered to pay for breakfast in advance, but the staff advised us to book it daily so we could decide whether to dine in or explore nearby cafés — a thoughtful and fair suggestion. Breakfast was excellent and reasonably priced: £12 for the standard option, with an additional £8 for hot dishes such as a full English, salmon, or avocado with poached egg. The indoor pool was clean and enjoyable, and the room was comfortable, with a fan provided for warmer nights. On our first morning, we were unfortunately woken at 6am by flying ants on the bed. I mention this not as a complaint, but to highlight how efficiently the staff responded. I informed reception before breakfast and showed a short video; by the time we returned, housekeeping had already resolved the issue completely. We also brought our own cutlery, and two of our larger spoons was accidentally taken by housekeeping. When I mentioned it to reception, she personally located it and returned it to our room immediately. This review is really about the responsiveness and genuine care shown by the team working tirelessly behind the scenes. While compensation for the inconvenience would have been appreciated, I want to emphasise how grateful we are for the prompt and sincere action taken. This level of service is not something you see every day — not just in the UK, but globally. Thank you for looking after us. We would not hesitate to recommend this accommodation to future guests. For improvement, especially for ground‑floor rooms, installing window screens would help prevent similar occurrences.

The hotel is in a good location. Rooms are tired.Bedrooms needed painting and basic tlc.Kettle in room has so much scale indide could not use was replaced with one from another room which was just as basic.If you book with Bookings.com be aware when it states breakfast included its continental you need to pay for full cooked.I did compain and was given the breakfast but told they lose money through fees and commision with Bookings.com so have to charge.Make sure you get what you pay for.Staff were nice but i do think not alot as the same person served breakfast as well as the bar and reception.Would not use again.
