Nayras Puno Hotel

We booked this place as it’s where Peru Hop dropped us off. It’s basic and good for one to two night stay. There is no heater in the room but the blankets they provided are very warm and we slept well at night. The water pressure in the shower was a bit weak but I think that’s the way it is in most places in Puno. At least there was hot water. I think the owner tried really hard to provide a nice and warm environment for the guests. The room was clean but fairly basic. It’s within walking distance to most attractions in Puno and also the port for boat rides. The owner is nice and flexible with luggage storage. If you’re taking Peru Hop and looking for a quick night stay, this would be a good place. If you’re expecting fancy hot shower with carpet and heater, you need to remember you’re in Puno and find a different place.

The shower pressure was a bit low. There was no bathroom mat in the bathroom so our feet were cold and wet after we showered.

Good value and location. Manager at breakfast was lovely and managed well despite a power cut across the city.

Be aware that the luggage storage is only open at certain times during the day.

Convenient location to most areas of town. Owner was very respectful and helpful. We only used the room for the afternoon while waiting for an overnight bus departure. No trouble getting hot water in the shower, but probably because we weren’t using at normal peak time. Rooms aren’t heated, but the beds had plenty of layers. We had a room on the 4th floor facing the street, which is usually a recipe for a noisy stay. Surprisingly, the windows were slightly thicker than most we’ve come across during our travels in Peru and kept the outside noise relatively well muted.

Weak soundproofing meant hearing neighbouring room conversations / music. Proposed use of inflated exchange rate plus high percentage “commission” to pass along credit card processing fees. Chose to pay in USD cash instead, which they accepted without issue.
