Hine Adon Avenches A2 Hotel Aparthotel with Tea room - Self Checkin

Let me start with the positives .... The apartment hotel is new, the rooms are good and the location was great for our needs. BUT ..... the administration and systems are a disaster. First, we needed to stay an additional night. So I contacted Hine Adon to ask them to link my 2 one night bookings so that we could stay in the same room. I received a message advising me that this was arranged. Then ..... I did not receive our self check-in information before our stay, and I struggled to get the self check in system to work. So I had to call for help, which (because there are no staff on site) took 20 minutes to arrive. Not ideal after a long, busy day. When I finally was able to check in, I could only do so for the first night and I was told that I could check in again the following day - on the same unwieldy self check in system. And, I was required to pay for the accommodation by card - even though I had received a receipt from Agoda for each night of our stay. For the second night, we arrived at around 18.00 to check in again - this time with the check in information which was sent by email and WhatsApp. But, possibly because we had not checked out after the previous night (?) or for some other unknown reason, I could check in but I could not get a new key ... and I was informed by the system that I would receive a notification when our room (with all of our luggage in it) was available! After a few minutes wait, I decided to call the number linked to the check in information I'd received. On that call I was spoken to like an idiot, and I was repeatedly interrupted when I tried to tell the man on the line that the old key no longer worked and I could not get a new key. And, when I told him that I had been double charged for 1 night's accommodation, he was completely dismissive. I have subsequently provided the hotel with both of the Agoda receipts, and the receipt from the hotel for the payment made on my card when I checked in. And I have received an apology with the promise of a refund. But an additional CHF 27 was deducted from my card for a "tourist tax". Several days later, I have not yet received the refund, and I have sent the hotel an email to question the tourist tax, because I found on the Commune of Avenches website that the tourist tax is either CHF 2 or CHF 3 per night per person. So by my calculations, the maximum tourist tax should be CHF 6 per night or a total of CHF 12 for the 2 night stay. Either I am an idiot, or the hotel is ripping me off! Either way, I will NEVER stay there again. And I cannot recommend that anyone else stay there.
