New in July 2025!! The Woody Trailhead Cabin is in Cooke City, Montana off the beaten
path.
Minutes away from downtown Cooke City. A short 4-mile drive to the NE entrance of
Yellowstone, Beartooth Highway is located along the main street in Cooke City and will
lead you to a scenic 90-minute drive to Red Lodge, MT.
The lack of modern conveniences means a rare opportunity to disconnect and immerse
oneself in the natural world. It is this very remoteness that keeps Cooke City special,
offering the kind of peaceful retreat that is increasingly hard to find. There is no modern
grocery store in Cooke City. We suggest shopping for items you’ll need in Cody,
Gardiner, or Red Lodge. The local General Store and gas statiosn will have last-minute
items you may need and are fun to visit.
For those seeking a true escape into nature, Cooke City offers tranquility and adventure
in equal measures. The surrounding wilderness is ideal for hiking, wildlife viewing, and
stargazing far from urban lights. In the evenings, you might spot elk grazing nearby or
hear the distant call of a coyote beneath a sky blazing with stars. Local eateries and a

Excellent location for visiting Yellowstone National Park. The place was clean and furniture and bedding were comfortable. The kitchen was very well stocked and with pots and appliances to prepare a hot meal at the end of the day. All you need is to bring your groceries before you get to the cabin.

Great location and very nice cabin. Easy access back into Yellowstone. Cam was a great host. He even dried our laundry when the cabin dryer was on the fritz. A sow grizzly and two cubs walked past the cabin as we watched… from inside. Only drawback was a bit difficult to locate without internet for maps, but Cam had sent lat/long in advance and was able to use my OnX app.

We couldn’t have been happier with the cabin. It is clean, comfortable and well supplied. The location , so close to the northeast entrance to Yellowstone NP and the wonderful Lamar Valley and beautiful Beartooth Highway was perfect!

Great base camp for ski touring around Cooke! Cam was very helpful and responsive (without being overbearing). Hope to come back when there is more snow!
