    Was let down by my experience of The Ocean Pearl Udupi. After visiting The Ocean Pearl, Mangalore, was quite excited that they had a property at Udupi, but was disappointed. Reception Staff: unfriendly and unwelcoming. They have two sullen faced ladies who refuse to smile. Corridors: The room that we were assigned initially - 306, had insects hanging on the door and corridor, as though it has not been used for a long time. Room 306: The odour in the room was stale and bad. It opened when we entered, but after dinner we had to wait for 30 mins for the hotel staff to open it for us. We were stuck in the hot and humid lobby, while the staff tried desperately to figure out why the Godrej Lock wouldn't open, even with the Head Manager's master key. He had to finally call for the physical turn-key and after several attempts the door was opened. They shifted us to an adjacent room, which was kind. They weren't able to fix the issue with 306, till we left. Room 305: the team kettle was unwashed. Some previous tenant had tried to add milk sachet to hot water within the kettle and their failed attempt was still there for us to find. Travel Desk: Positive. Responsive and competent. The Etios car and the driver were very good. The hostess who was supposed to be helping guests, was not helpful. Food: Positive. The breakfast was great. The food in the restaurant is wonderful but the menu is not identical to their Mangalore facility. We were a little surprised and disappointed by that. On the whole, the experience wasn't even close to"wow".
