Jemsty Inn Hakone Ashinoko Our stay at Jemsty Inn Hakone Ashinoko was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. The host, MaC Hattori, is exceptionally kind, welcoming, and helpful. His English is excellent, making communication effortless. Before our arrival, he provided clear instructions on how to get there, which probably saved us from getting off the pirate ship at the wrong stop. One thing we hadn’t realized is that most restaurants in Hakonemachi close quite early, as many visitors stay at ryokan with dinner included. Fortunately, MaC offers an optional home-cooked dinner for ¥3,000 per person, which turned out to be an excellent decision. The Tori Nabe (chicken hot pot) was outstanding and fully deserves to be called the house specialty. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Although it was fairly basic, it was well maintained, and the air conditioning worked perfectly, keeping the room cool during the hot Japanese summer. The freshly poured draft beer came with an amusing surprise: because of the altitude, it produced an impressive amount of foam. MaC explained that we simply had to drink the foam first before enjoying the rest of the beer—a small detail that made the experience even more memorable. Breakfast the next morning was equally delicious. Before we left, MaC also gave us excellent tips for our visit to Shimoda, which turned out to be very useful. The hospitality, personal attention, and genuine care made us feel at home. We can wholeheartedly recommend Jemsty Inn Hakone Ashinoko.

Great location with very nice hosts and a perfect home cooked meal

It was very close to the bus station, just right across the street.; also only 1 minute walk to the ferry(Hakone pirate ship) from Togendai which most tourist would take.

The hotel was not the big issue, only the minor thing like forcing us to use their used slipper, the issue was the area, We stayed for 3 nights at Hakonemachi-ko which was too long, it was nothing much to visit, most of the restaurants were closed at 4 or 5pm. We thought the hotel close to the lake which should've a lot to visit but actually nothing to do at night after 5 pm. I would recommend to stay at Hakone yumoto area, there has more to do. Staying one or two nights at Hakonemachi-ko is the max. If you decided to stay at that area, I recommend to book a hotel with onsen and come with dinner, at least you can enjoy the onsen at night.
