Tsumugi

I had a wonderful 2-night stay at Tsumugi Gora Hakone, and it truly deserves more than 5 stars. This charming ryokan has only 8 rooms, creating a calm, private, and uncrowded atmosphere — perfect for a relaxing Hakone retreat. The public onsen was another highlight. Because the ryokan caters to so few guests, the onsen was always peaceful and spotless. The soothing natural hot spring made every soak deeply rejuvenating. Service here was outstanding. The staff were incredibly warm, attentive, and thoughtful throughout my stay. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to Ms. Mio and Mr. Matsushita for their exceptionally kind and genuine hospitality. They went above and beyond — including adjusting my kaiseki dinner and breakfast menus across both nights so I could enjoy different dishes without repetition. Their care made the experience truly memorable. The complimentary pick-up and drop-off service was also extremely convenient and much appreciated. My room was beautifully designed and very comfortable. One small thing to note: the room I booked did not have an attached shower room (only attached toilet), so showers were taken in the public onsen. They do offer rooms with attached showers, but these need to be reserved in advance. Not a major issue, but helpful for future guests to know. Overall, Tsumugi Gora Hakone exceeded all expectations with its intimate setting, exceptional service, and thoughtful touches. I would return in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful, authentic, and memorable ryokan experience.

This has to be the top experience I have ever had from a boutique hotel in the world! The staff were so attentive and made efforts every step of the way. Food was amazing and cleanliness was 11/10.

I had the pleasure of staying here for three nights. Although the location of the place is a bit of a walk from Sounzan Station, the excellent service and food more than makes up for it. Despite the language barrier, the staff did their best with communication. The food provided was excellent—there was breakfast and dinner served. Overall, I had a pleasant and enjoyable stay here. Would definitely recommend

I had the pleasure to stay here at Tsumugi and meet the amazing people handling the hotel. Even before my arrival which was delayed , they contacted me to make sure i am fine or if i need any assistance and i am able to find the location. After checking in, and discussing with the ryokan manager I had an amazing kaiseki dinner . Both Mr Manager and Lady Jireko ( i hope i wrote the name correctly ) made sure that i enjoy my experience. After dinner I tried the onsen which was clean and relaxing, exactly what i needed after a long day. Before the checkout i tried to ask for some directions in order to reach my next destination and they were very helpful. During my checkout they offered to help me with the bag transfer to my next hotel and even drove me to the station. They even they made sure that i wont miss the Hakone shrine, which i briefly mentioned the day before and on the way to the station we made a stop for me to take a photo. It was such an amazing experience, i will never forget them. Please if you are going to hakone you have to try this ryokan, you will leave with a big smile on your face and great memories.
