Rated the beach poor, through no fault of it's own. We visited after a bad storm had hit Northland, so all beaches were very dirty and un-swimable at that time.

Value for money, air conditioned, comfortable beds and good facilities. The tea/coffee supplies, chocolates and guest guide were a great help.
Can't close the toilet window so had a few bugs come inside with the humidity

Location right by the waterfront was handy and nice walk into town 2km. 400m walk to supermarket.
Bed wasn't very comfortable, so my partner slept in the other room. The place smelled of curry on arrival. The tiniest of shower cavities, made showering tricky, though the pressure of the shower was good.
The exterior lights shine into bedrooms (both street lights and sign lights on building), making it very bright in rooms and hard to sleep as shining directly in.
Also noted some safety issues....
Fire extinguisher was due to be retested in 2018. Extension lead for TV not electrically safe (exposed wire). The front door was a bit glitchy to lock properly.
