The Paddock Side

Hosts were pleasant. Stayed in small upper room with shared bathroom/toilet downstairs. Not far from the centre. Lovely big garden. Breakfast was croissant, yoghurt, a biscuit, a banana and glass of orange juice left outside your door in the morning. Good value for money. Happy with my 2 nights there

David and Magda were both perfect, very easy to talk to and very helpful, but didn't hover around and just left you to get on with your day. Beds were very comfortable and clean. Room was very clean. Clean towels provided in their rooms for each guest. Bathroom was very clean with a great shower and plenty of hot water. Breakfast was basic, a croissant, butter, jam, orange juice; but we knew this when booking. Tea & coffee making facilities in the room. TV in each room. Beautifully quiet location with zero traffic noise. Woke up to the birds singing. Plenty of parking space. Local pub that does good meals (The New Broom)

Shared bathroom may worry some people, but with only a few guests it really was not a problem. I could not decipher how to operate the television system, but the 16 year old travelling with us had it figured out in no time.

The location was right for our needs, and the hosts were exceptionally accommodating. Due to heavy traffic, we anticipated arriving well after the designated check-in time, but the hosts were understanding and reassuring throughout. They provided detailed instructions regarding property access, breakfast arrangements, and other practical information, and kindly advised us to take our time and drive safely. The accommodation consists of a small number of rooms on a compact site, but everything was clean, tidy, and equipped with the basic necessities needed for a comfortable stay. We occupied two of the four available rooms, and as we were the only guests that night, sharing the bathroom was not an issue. However, I can imagine it may be less convenient when the property is fully occupied.

The only aspect that fell short of expectations was the breakfast. It was very basic and lacked the quality one would expect. It was literally Tesco value breakfast. The selection was limited, and despite the tea and coffee-making facilities, milk was not provided. I would rather have a slice of toast than a solitary bourbon biscuit which was part of the offering. A slightly more thoughtful breakfast provision would greatly enhance the overall guest experience.
