Mays Otel

I liked the cleanness and some staff were cooperative such as Okan... Sarkan....kerem.

The location is near Taksim square, but the walk distance in between is very hard (very steep up-hill). and the walk way is also not comfort.

Wonderful and helpful staff. Breakfast Comfy beds Clean room Safety and quite neighborhood

It’s 15 minutes from Taksim Square which is really nice. However, if you are not fan of walking tilted streets, location might not be your favorite

This hotel is rated as a 4-star on Booking. There are 2 adjacent buildings for the same hotel. The surrounding location of the hotel was squalid, dilapidated and very unattractive. Vehicles have a hard time accessing the front doors. The hotel itself is somewhat run down and badly needs an update throughout. There are no amenities other than a tiny bar in reception and a spa I never visited. There is a single elevator. Breakfast buffet was 90% cold items and 10% hot with one bread choice..(the 'hot' items however were usually cold in any event) so overall, the buffet was nothing to write home about. An apparently 'new' air conditioning unit blew regular moist air all day long and the room was a sauna making it cooler to be outside than in. Three visits by a 'technician' supposedly fixed the issue but it was easier to open the window and block the door open top keep the air moving through but sleeping comfortably was a problem with sweat running down your back and forehead. There was no shelf in the bathroom to put any items on so the closed lid of the toilet and garbage bin had to suffice.The shower was awful. There was limited water pressure and barely-warm water from a hand-held shower hose. The drain would not clear the water and it would pool in one corner of the stall which was somewhat grimy around the edges and be there for most of the day. On my last day, I saw that the buildup of black gunk was actually moving and on blasting it with water, numerous tiny black worm-like insects wriggled their way across the stall. I didn't bother alerting staff as I was leaving that morning but I was a bit disgusted. On walking many miles throughout Istanbul, I saw many 4-star hotels of a far better quality. I would suggest before booking that you do your research and read the reviews of others. Sometimes spending a few dollars more per night is well worth it. Overall, I would not recommend the Mays Otel.
