Casa Emilia lake view apartment

L'appartement correspond au rez de chaussée d'une maison entière. Il n'y a que les propriétaires à l'étage au dessus. C'est vraiment spacieux et frais en été, surtout le soir. Belle petite terrasse avec vue sur le lac pour prendre les repas à coté de la cuisine très spacieuse..

L'emplacement de la maison nécessite d'avoir une voiture, sinon c'est assez long et pentu de remonter à la maison depuis le lac et le centre de Lierna. Le stationnement se fait dans une petite rue pas facile à trouver.

It was a real blessing and a privilege to spend three nights at Casa Emilia and to get to know John and Noel as hosts. The house is incredibly comfortable, beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and the view from the garden is absolutely stunning. I felt at home straight away, especially thanks to the warm welcome and the kindness, care, and attention shown by the owners throughout my stay. The main reason for my visit was to walk the Sentiero del Viandante, which actually passes right by the house, but I ended up falling in love with Lierna itself. Luigi's artisan gelateria (all-natural, no artificial additives, and dangerously delicious), the little local grocery store, the pebble beaches by the lake, and above all the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains made the place truly special. It's great fun to take the ferry from Lierna to places like Bellagio, or hop on a train to Varenna or Mandello. But honestly, it's just as tempting to stay at Casa Emilia, relax in the garden with a good book, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. As a solo traveller, I couldn't have imagined a better place to stay, but the house would also be perfect for a family or a group of friends. I sincerely hope to return very soon and would recommend it to anyone without the slightest hesitation!

Everything! John and Noel have done such an amazing job at creating and hosting a comfortable place to stay in the lovely town of Lierna. This place was very aesthetic (think Italian cottage-core) and had everything we needed and more, and John and Noel were very responsive and friendly hosts without being overbearing. They live on the top level of the home but it felt like we had the place and the gardens to ourselves. If you are wanting to experience Lake Como without the horrible crowds you see on social media (but still want to be a short ferry ride/ train trip away from Bellagio and Varenna) this is the perfect accommodation. We were able to enjoy quiet mornings to watch the sunset over the lake, mountain views (and hikes) including the wayfarer's path and fireflies in the garden. Best enjoyed as a longer stay as there is a washing machine (we brought our own laundry detergent but laundry pods are supplied for small change), a well equipped kitchen and both indoor and outdoor dining areas - we loved going to the supermarket and making the most of the amazing Italian produce. Both the beds and daybeds were very comfortable and the brick house was able to keep very cool even during the heatwave when we were there.

It is a bit of a steep 15-20 min trek to get from the Lierna train station/ ferry/ town to the accommodation with steps, so recommend hiring a car if you decide to stay here. It is manageable though as John and Noel very generously offered to pick us up and drop us off at the train station with our luggage (and gave us a lift up in the afternoon on a particularly hot day)!
