Experience with booking through Belvilla was unpleasant, house is cozy but worn out

Good location near to the beach, walking distance.

Worst booking experience in a very long time, maybe ever. After booking this bungalow through booking.com, we were confronted by Belvilla with an additional, hidden cost of 390 euro for "utilities and service" - an absolutely outrageous amount for bedding, electricity and clearing for using a bungalow for a few days. This is the first and hopefully last time we are confronted with such costs, which were not visible nor transparently showed at the booking page. We received literally dozens of emails telling us to pay up, and the emails were not consistent in the amount that we owned, making things needlessly confusing and seem like a scam. We reported this practice to booking.com who were not helpful in solving the situation. Furthermore, the booking page says pets (plural) allowed, but Belvilla claimed afterwards that only 1 pet is allowed. This forced us to leave one of our dogs behind. The bungalow itself is okay, it seems to not have seen any maintenance for at least a decade or two. Windows are so dirty that you can't see through them when the sun is shining inside. Drinking glasses are completely worn out. The heating pipes continuously make a loud ticking noise, making it impossible to sleep without ear plugs in winter. The fireplace worked well, some wood was left by the owner for us to use which was nice. The living room is cosy and the kitchen functions, but we brought our own coffee machine, and we were glad we did so. This was one of very few options available for a NYE stay outside of the city. We'll not book this place again, and will in the future avoid dealing with Belvilla at all costs.
