Casa di Laino

We stayed at Casa di Laino in August 2026 and absolutely loved it. The house is newly renovated (I think about 2 years ago), so everything is new, very clean and comfortable. The pictures do not do the house justice—it is so much better in person. It is thoughtfully furnished, and you can tell that a lot of love was put into it. There are 3 bedrooms and each one has its own AC, plus another AC in the living room. There are 2 bathrooms, a washing machine, fridge, coffee machine and all the basic kitchen stuff. There is also a parking space for a car right in the front yard. One of my favorite things was having breakfast in the backyard, under an olive tree that is several hundred years old, listening to the cicadas. It’s hard to describe, but it really gives you that feeling of Mediterranean life that you come to Crete for. The house is in a village, and there are different shops within about 5–10 minutes by car. I would definitely recommend renting a car. There is a bus, but I imagine you would spend quite a bit of your vacation waiting for and traveling by bus. We went several times to Marathi Beach, which we really liked. Because it’s in a protected bay, the water was calm even when other places were windy and had big waves. Since the house is on the Akrotiri Peninsula, there are also several other beaches you can easily visit. Chania Old Town is around 15–25 minutes away by car, so it was very easy to go there in the evening or whenever we wanted. But probably the best part of our stay was the hosts. We were lucky that they were vacationing in the house next to us while we were there. They were incredibly warm, welcoming and generous. I honestly can’t find the right words to describe them or to thank them for everything and for the time we spent together. When they were showing us around and telling us about the house and the yard, you could see how much they love this place and how proud they are of it. That made it feel even more special.

Wo soll ich nur anfangen? 😊 Unser Aufenthalt war wirklich von Anfang bis Ende perfekt und wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt! Das Haus war außergewöhnlich sauber und sehr gepflegt, wirklich bis ins kleinste Detail. Man hat sofort gemerkt, wie viel Wert hier auf Sauberkeit und darauf gelegt wird, dass sich die Gäste wohlfühlen. Es war außerdem alles vorhanden, was man für einen entspannten Aufenthalt braucht. Uns hat wirklich nichts gefehlt. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir auch die Gastgeber. Sie waren unglaublich freundlich, herzlich, zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Bei Fragen waren sie jederzeit für uns da, haben alles beantwortet und einem sofort weitergeholfen. Man hat sich wirklich willkommen und bestens aufgehoben gefühlt. Auch die Lage ist einfach super. Mit dem Auto waren wir in nur etwa 5–7 Minuten am Meer bzw. Strand, und auch Supermärkte sind ungefähr 5 Minuten entfernt. Gleichzeitig liegt die Unterkunft sehr praktisch und zentral: Bis nach Chania, zum Hafen und in die wunderschöne Altstadt, haben wir mit dem Auto nur etwa 15 Minuten gebraucht. Für uns hat hier einfach alles gestimmt: die Sauberkeit, die Ausstattung, die Lage und vor allem die herzlichen Gastgeber. Wir können diese Unterkunft uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen und würden jederzeit wiederkommen. ❤️ Vielen Dank für diesen wunderschönen Aufenthalt und die tolle Gastfreundschaft!
