Amazing ocean views from a cute apartment in Centro. This place is in the middle of everything yet a couple blocks away from the main traffic routes so it was very quiet and peaceful. The bed was very comfortable, and it was convenient to store my food in the mini fridge. Always had hot water and the AC kept the place cool when needed. Checking in was effortless and the kind and responsive host was a delight to interact with. Finally, I loved the authentic details of the apartment like the beamed ceilings and charming courtyard - I felt like I was in Mexico and not some generic hotel.

There are stairs to the place, which I knew about beforehand, but Centro has a lot of hills so stairs are everywhere. Anyone who has mobility issues should find another place but I had no problem. Also this is a historic building so don't expect everything to be modernized, but that's part of the charm.

The location was excellent - near the boardwalk, with a great view on the ocean.

The biggest problem for us were the multiple stairs that led from town to the house. There was no warning in the description of the place that there are steep stairs to negotiate to get anywhere from the house. There were 68 steps from the street reachable by car to the house and then 18 more from the yard to the floor where our room was. My husband and I are in our mid-seventies and late sixties, respectively and I have a terrible hip pain and he, a strong knee pain. We only realized the situation after we got in the house and we had already paid for the room with a non-refundable stipulation. I messaged Booking but the only thing they did was to send my message to the host with whom I had already talked on the phone. We wanted our money back, but she did not agree to pay us even though it was eher obligation to include the information about her location being incompatible with people with reduced mobility . After long negotiations, she consented to giving us at least a better room on the same floor, which was something, but certainly did not help with us getting in and out up and down those terrible stairs. As a result, I am back home with a seriously increased pain. I think that Booking should have stipulations about disclosure of locations that can cause issues to people with mobility problems and penalize hosts who do not abide by them by refunding guest who fall in such a trap. In addition, the house was basically falling apart. The electrical wires were downright dangerous and this location would not pass muster by any electrician's code. The cleaning lady apparently came before the guests arrived and if they were not happy with anything, good luck finding her again. Communication with the host was only related to our unfortunate stairs situation and after that we never heard of her. Three cats lived on the back terrace and their litter boxes were never cleaned during our stay of one week, nor was there any food provided for them.
