Friendly staff and employee . Nice room with all facilities except TV , which I don't miss. Great breakfast ( included ) Quite environment Parking space for my car Easy & short access to the old town.

Pros: Receptionist/Manager GuGu was the best part of the hostel! Accommodating, kind, honest, helpful...she gets *****. The location was also excellent quiet but close to old town. The room was relatively clean (for SEA standards anyway- just a bit dusty but otherwise ok). The breakfast was basic (fruit, egg, potato, bread) but I love a free breakfast so I'm not complaining! Kitchen access always nice to have. They also accommodated my need to stay on ground floor (in the beginning anyway...). Free water. Good mattress.

Cons: I stayed for 6 nights at Irene and had to use 3 different rooms while I was there- so I got a real grand tour of the place! My first room (ground floor) was FILLED with mosquitos. Ive never seen anything like it. I think they were coming from bathroom drain? I wound up buying a mosquito plug in (didn't help). The next day the water broke in left half of the entire building, so I started using the bathroom on the (right side) of the second floor. They offered to just move me to the second floor completely but I have a bad knee so I wanted to do the stairs as rarely as possible. After 3 days of still not having water in my (not cheap) private room, I asked to be moved to a room that had working water (lol). I move all my belongings (with their help) into the second floor room...only to realize there was no window! NONE of the rooms on the second floor have windows. I paid for a window especially as I'm fighting jet lag. So I asked for a room with a window- they move me to the 3RD floor now. They helped me move in (the staff are so kind) and I discovered the AC didn't work (I had it set to 16c and it brought the room from 32c down to 28c...). I'm sure I could have moved to a FOURTH room if I asked, but it was clear there would be different issues with each room and there was no escaping it. The whole place needs to be better maintained. Ex: shelves are falling down and so entirely useable. ACs are broken or leaking. Doors and keys break at random. There is a real lack of care on the owner's part of the quality. The hotel is not very old- it should not have all these issues. I wish I would say I would come back because of the decent price, location, and great staff- but I barely think I got what I paid for.
