About this cottage rental
Upper Cottage is a charming Grade 2 listed thatched 3 bedroom cottage enjoying a beautiful rural location in Rocombe on the outskirts of Uplyme near Lyme Regis in Dorset.
Amenities: Electric and oil fuelled underfloor heating with wood burning stove. Electric induction hob, extractor fan, oven, grill, second oven/microwave, large fridge freezer, wine cooler, kettle, toaster, coffee-making machine, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, hairdryer. TV, DAB radio, WiFi. Fuel and power inc. in rent (recharging vehicles from the electrical sockets is not permitted). Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Private parking for 2 cars plus other unallocated spaces available, subject to availability. Private lawned garden, terrace, patio area, summerhouse, garden furniture. Two well-behaved dogs welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop 1.2 miles, pub 1.3 miles. Note: Due to the age of the cottage some of the doorways are low and there are internal steps so it may not be suitable for the very young or infirm. Note: Double bed in bedroom 3 is accessible from one side only. Note: Logs for the wood burner are not provided but are available to buy locally
Region: Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?
Town: The beautiful countryside surrounding the village of Uplyme, on the borders of Devon and Dorset, is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, criss-crossed by bridleways and footpaths including the East Devon Way, and providing perfect country walks and superb views. The area was chosen by TV chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall for his River Cottage HQ at Park Farm, where you can treat yourself to a great meal. Just a short drive takes you to the stunning Jurassic Coast at Lyme Regis. This delightful historic seaside town boasts a maze of narrow streets, with an interesting array of shops and cafes, whilst the sandy beach lends itself to great bathing and watersports, and the bustling little harbour offers regular fishing trips, or try your hand at fossil hunting. Within an easy drive is the quaint town of Axminster, or how about a ride on the Seaton Tramway? A glorious location for a varied and interesting holiday.
