Although Agoda showed availability for non-smoking rooms, I received an email telling me the hotel would not be able to honor my reservation and I would be given a smoking room. Since this was a last minute reservation I begrudgingly accepted. However, at check-in I asked if a nonsmoking room was available. The front desk staff said a nonsmoking room was available, but I would need to pay extra for it. I declined. Where I am from that is called a “bait-and-switch” and is unethical.

Matsumoto Marunouchi Hotel is just steps away from Matsumoto Castle, and very close to Nawate and Nakamachi streets. 12 minute walk or quick taxi ride to the Train station. The rooms and general facility are attractive and clean, though the lobby is minimal. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast has large variety of both Western and Japanese choices. Would recommend and stay here again.

The staff is very friendly, speaking English as well. Room is not too big, as per Japanese custom, but well equipped an clean and beds are very comfortable. Great breakfast.
It is only 5 mins walk to the very beautiful Matsumoto castle, so a perfect location..
