Marine Surf 18th FL Studio Kitchen & Parking

It’s a lovely, renovated studio apartment. The bed is comfortable and having a full kitchen and an included assigned parking space at the building is so nice. It’s very centrally located in Waikiki so you can walk to a lot of nearby restaurants and shops, as well as the beach. It’s also very affordable.

The lighting in the apartment is not great. There’s one small bedside lamp and an under cabinet light in the kitchen that glares in your eyes if you’re not sitting with your back to it. At one point we moved the bedside lamp onto the center of the dining table. There’s also only 1 bedside table so the other side of the bed has no place to put it phone to charge at night. (We used my carry on suitcase.) We cooked a lot of our meals so a couple of baking pans (8x8”) would have been great. I ended up making some out of aluminum foil. Easy clean up !

Loved the location! Parking was a plus! The variety of snacks were much appreciated! All-in-all a nice, clean unit with air conditioning that made the room temp very comfortable! Great communication!

1) Difficulty entering after hours.. I arrived at the Marine Surf late, around 10:00 pm on the 13th.. The front entrance was locked so I had to wait for someone with a fob to (reluctantly) let me in.. Otherwise, easy process to pick up my fobs from the mailbox… 2)Lighting in the room was nice and bright but switch was in a strange place… 3) A lamp next to the bed would have been nice! Not sure if that was a lamp next to the bed! If so, I couldn’t find a switch to turn it on! 3) Nice that so many towels were provided but they were dingy and probably need to be washed in bleach! Sorry but I’m giving you my honest opinion! I worked for an airline for almost 40 years and stayed at many many hotels during that time! So, I think I’m a pretty good critic! Overall, with those few exceptions, you have a great unit!

great location. parking is on lower level out of hot sun. the parking size is good, just has a height restriction of 6ft 2in. super easy to get in and out of. elevators were quick. never had to wait too long. plenty of hot water with consistent pressure. they provide 4 bath, 4hand, 4 wash cloth, and 4 beach towels. they also provide 2beach chairs. I did leave our umbrella there, so hopefully the next person can use it. along with our laundry card, which can be reloaded by the mailboxes. cash only to load. the laundry was right across from our room and worked really well. trash shoot is there too, super convenient. room has a keypad lock, so you don't have to worry about locking yourself out. everything was very new and super clean. there was plenty of toilet paper for 2people for the week and soap/ shampoo/ conditioner in the shower. the also left us a few snacks/ aloe/ sunscreen/ etc. the full size fridge/freezer was nice along with the oven and garbage disposal. The bed and pillows were really comfortable. AC unit kept the place nice and cool the whole time. just make sure to pull curtain shut during the day when you aren't there. check in process was a easy. we got there after hours, so the security guard let us in and gave us a paper to fill out and bring down the next morning. lobby was clean and friendly people staying there. we were so busy that we didn't even have time to try out the pool. there is a very very nice steak restaurant located on the main floor of the building, that's open for dinner. plenty of dresser drawer space and room for luggage. might be a little cramped if you had 4 adults though. All the neighbors on the floor were nice, minimal interaction and no noise from them side top or bottom at all. nice having the toaster/ instapot and all the kitchen essentials for at home cooking. the wi-fi was super fast too. it did go out one evening for a couple hours.

there are just some minor things that could be tweaked for a extra exceptional stay. as listed in the listing the AC is a window AC unit, which can be a bit loud, but is very nice to have to drown out the noise at night, which was also listed. you can clearly hear fire/ police vehicles along with the local roosters/ loud exhaust motorcycles/ etc. along with the AC, it doesn't seem to drain the condensation very well, which makes the floor of the balcony very wet and the fan of the AC then also sprays water on you and half the balcony. I think it just needs tilted down for better draining. The shower/tub does not drain very quickly and the toilet has to be flushed 2x usually. it would be nice if there was a full length mirror, according to my wife. while the snacks and goodies aren't required of them (greatly appreciated), even two small bottles of water upon arrival would have been nice. I hope the next guests get to benefit from the laundry card and umbrella we left behind.
