This beautifully converted barn combines rustic charm with modern comforts. Step into the open-plan ground floor where you’ll find a well-equipped kitchen featuring all the essentials needed to prepare delicious meals. The living area boasts a comfortable sofa and a Smart TV, ideal for unwinding after a day of exploring. Descend a few steps to the lower ground floor, where you’ll discover a serene double bedroom designed for restful nights. Adjacent is a stylish shower room with a walk-in shower.
The Calf Shed opens up to a delightful garden space with a lush lawn and outdoor furniture, perfect for al fresco dining or simply soaking up the serene surroundings. For those traveling with horses, stabling and grazing can be provided at certain times of the year. There is also convenient parking for one car and a secure bike store for your outdoor gear.
Surrounded on three sides by The Peak District National Park, the area is a haven for nature lovers and adventure seekers. Enjoy a variety of scenic walks right from your doorstep, with trails that weave through the stunning landscape of Derbyshire. Local trails include High Peak, Monsal and Tissington, all within easy reach, venture off the trails for further hiking experiences which offer breathtaking views.
Nearby, the charming village of Castleton is famous for its fascinating caves, including the Blue John Cavern and Peak Cavern, perfect for a day of exploration. Chatsworth House stands nearby where you can soak in the history inside the stately home and the gardens. Local towns include Buxton, Bakewell and Ashbourne, the closest being Buxton, offering restaurants, a local theatre known as the Opera House, a small cinema and many local shops. Make sure you refill your water bottle at St Anne’s well- one of seven ‘Wonders of the Peak’, it is rumoured to have healing elements.

We enjoyed our week at The Calf Shed very much. Weather was disappointing but otherwise a great week. Friendly farmer and a very cosy and comfortable cottage and well equipped.

One word, perfect. What a fantastic cottage in a perfect location to get about, little sitting area perfect just let dog out in a morning and sit with a coffee listeningto nothing but the birds. By far the nicest cottage we've stayed in all home comforts towels for the dog, water bowls (how many times do you forget the little things ) Everything was super clean, quality towels and bedding very well equipped kitchen with again little things you forget (salt n pepper) and blankets to snuggle under on an evening, although not really required has lovely cosy cottage. And not forgetting a bakewell pudding, milk and some local beer has a fantastic welcome, along with Yorkshire tea. Perfect would highly recommend just for a peaceful break or for the serious walks an absolute gem to relax after a day out.
