Amber by The Tamarilllo

Pros: Good view and good food.Cons: Stained bed covers, pillows with a wet smell, and no door mats bathroom mats. Towel provided was not good. No dental kit provided .The wooden cupboard (bero) was broken, and the extra pillows and bedsheets stored inside were stinking.Overall: I highly regret booking this stay and will never return.

We recently stayed at Amber by the Tamarillo, located in the peaceful southeast corner of Ooty, and had a wonderful experience overall. The property itself is small but absolutely beautiful, completely filled with lush gardens, vibrant lillies, and all sorts of colorful flowers. One of the absolute highlights of our stay was the view. Sitting on the balcony, sipping hot coffee, and munching on fresh onion pakodas while looking directly out at the sprawling tea estates was an unforgettable experience. Food & Dining: The food at the hotel is fantastic and has a lovely, comforting homemade quality to it with a good variety of options. The complimentary breakfast was also pretty good, offering a lot of options to choose from. The only thing to keep in mind is that you need to order your lunch or dinner well in advance. Rooms & Location: The rooms are pretty decent, comfortable, and clean. Because the property is located outside the main city, it gets very quiet and pitch-black at night with no streetlights. It’s definitely a place where it’s better to stay in after dark. They do schedule a nice evening bonfire for guests. Though they missed out on it the first night, we got to enjoy it on our second evening, which was lovely. Service & Logistics: The person in-charge is incredibly sweet and coordinates everything beautifully. However, service is the one area where the hotel has room to improve. Whenever the person in-charge wasn't around, the staff tended to get a bit laid back, and service would get delayed. Because of its secluded location, you won't easily find autos passing by the hotel to go into the main city, so you will definitely need to keep a reliable auto contact handy. On the plus side, the hotel has excellent contacts for local taxis. They arranged sightseeing for us in and around Ooty, including a trip to Pykara, at a very decent rate compared to the standard market prices, which was a huge bonus. Despite the minor service hiccups, the stunning views and peaceful garden setting made it a very good stay. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway in Ooty!

Best location, very supportive manager and staff, Loved my stay.

Staff was not good, was always late for food and completely disrupted our travel routine and food was also not that good.Had to eat outside everytime as the food is not preferable.
