Launcher's Cottage

Beautiful cottage in the middle of Scarborough close to the beach and castle. Gorgeous inside. Very quiet street comfortable beds. Have no complaints at all with respect to cottage.

We were lucky and got the last space on the street but could be unlucky. Very narrow street with parking both sides and public car parking close but again not big. Just to be aware if bringing a car.

Launchers cottage is a well presented property with modern cosy decor throughout. It is in a good location for access to both town and beach, but please note that it is over 5 floors and not accessible for anyone with mobility issues. Access to the beach is down a fairly long flight of steps, and after that, an exceptionally steep hill (This is if you take the most direct route, there may be an easier way but we never explored this possibility) The beds were very comfortable, with bed linen provided. Our daughter loved the top floor room with sea view, this being the only room with such, and binoculars provided for enjoying the view were a nice touch. The bathroom is quite spacious, with a bath and shower available, towels, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel are provided. You will need to bring your own toilet paper as there was only the remainder of what the previous guests left behind, and no extra provided. The kitchen is modern and well supplied with everything you need for self-catering, and there is a small dining area with patio doors leading to a small yard with seating.

There is no extractor fan in the bathroom, and even though we opened the window, the steam from the bathroom set off the smoke alarm several times if we opened the bathroom door too soon after showering, as the smoke alarm on that floor was directly outside the bathroom. My partner reached up to press the reset button to stop the smoke alarm, and it fell off the ceiling. It was barely attached and possibly faulty as it beeped randomly throughout the visit. ( we left this on the bottom step on that floor, as there was no way to reattach it) The toilet seat in the main bathroom is wonky, and the males amongst our family were not happy that the lid and seat do not stay up unless you hold them up...not ideal for those who stand up to pee. There is a small toilet with sink just off the kitchen...the taps on the sink in there do not turn as they are too close to the tiles. All in all, the property is nice, but we felt that £540 for 2 nights was very expensive, considering that this time last year we rented seabiscuit cottage on the same street for £288 for 2 nights, and seabiscuit was just as nice as launchers cottage. We would have expected more for our money, but there was no difference between the two properties regarding quality. If I am being honest, I would not pay this price again for this property.
